Predators of the Everglades

The Everglades is home to thousands of plant and animal species, many of which are formidable predators. It is a dangerous region and not a place to visit for the faint of heart. If you have the courage to brave the eerie forest or treacherous water, these are some of the meat-eaters you may come across.

The American alligator is one of the Everglades’ iconic predators, striking fear into the hearts of boaters, swimmers, and just about everyone else who finds themselves in Southern Florida!

Florida panthers have been terrorizing the glades since long before man set foot on the continent!

The brown recluse spider is one of the most dangerous insects in the Everglades, with potent necrotic venom.

Many a finger and toe have been lost to the lightning quick snaps of Florida snapping turtles!

North American ospreys dominate the air over the Everglades with their lethal dives!

Be Prepared

The Everglades is a great place to visit but plan ahead! Danger can be as small as a little spider or as big as a fierce alligator! Know your threats and be prepared!
