A Periodic Table Day Special
Hydrogen
By Katelin Kukk
Happy Periodic Table Day! It is the time of the year to recognize the publication of the first table of elements by John Newlands. He published the table in 1863, categorizing the known elements into 11 groups, and by their atomic weight.
Specifically, Hydrogen is a remarkable element. It is listed as the first element on the table with an atomic number of one. The element is odorless, tasteless, colorless, and a flammable gas. Hydrogen is the most abundant element and can be found almost anywhere. It is within water, animal and plant tissue, and more.
To celebrate this day, you can test your knowledge of the periodic table by quizzing your friends or family on the elements!
