A WORLD SNAKE DAY SPECIAL

A Slithering Celebration

By: Katelin Kukk

Happy World Snake Day! Let us celebrate our sssslithering friends who do so much for our ecosystem. We dedicate this day every year to fight the stereotypes and myths snakes face because of their “scary nature”. We hope to give snakes a more positive perception and, hopefully, one day they won’t be so misunderstood or feared.

Snakes are predators, as many of you know, and control animal populations. They are natural pest controls and will eat disease-carrying rodents. Some snakes are even social! You’ll see some species that have friends or families that they hang out with on rocks. If you see snakes in an environment, it’s a good sign that it’s a healthy one! So go out there and learn more about snakes! They’re counting on you!
