The U. S. Army Air Forces played a critical role in World War II, proving the importance of air services. Following the war, U. S. military and intelligence organizations were completely restructured. The United States Air Force became a separate branch of the military with the National Security Act of 1947.
A month after the formation of the Air Force, Captain Chuck Yeager became the first human to break the sound barrier.
USAF has since become the most advanced air force in the world.
On this anniversary of the USAF we celebrate our Airmen and express our gratitude for their hard work and dedication.
