On June 19, 1865, the Union Army rode into Galveston, Texas, spreading the word that all slaves were free.
The fall of the last confederate state marked the beginning of an era of freedom that continues to this day!
The Juneteenth celebrations began in the south and spread throughout the United States, becoming a federal holiday 2021.
